WARNING: LONG POST

phew. yes, i'm back. actually, just yesterday but i didn't have the energy to go online or even text message anybody.

well i'm back from Wyldfire's 2009 S.O.L.A.R camp at camp TERROR (i have no idea why it's called camp terror, honestly) &i'm feeling new. so much happened there i can't really put it in words.
there's just too many so i'll just list them.

Day 1

  • i was grouped with Ate Chin, Ate Erika, Eyah, Timothy, Tantan, Caleb & Viel & were called Jupiter. the rest were Saturn, Venus & Mercury

"JU-JUPITER PITER, JUPITER PITER!"

  • we had our first session. my dad did the preaching & he thought us how to become a Servant Leader.
  1. we have to have humility
  2. i need to lead by example &
  3. give up my personal rights to find greatness in service to others

Day 2

  • we had our second session. Pastor Mark Boado taught us the humility in Service
  1. Servant Leaders take up Jesus towelof servanthood to meet the need of others
  2. they share their responsibility&suthority with others to meet a greater need
  3. they multiply their leadership by empowering others to lead
  • we had a lot of games too. one was a game where we had to grab the flags from the other teams. another was DOG & BONE TO THE EXTREEEMEE! let me explain that.

there was a mat filled with water to make it slippery. on top of that was a net with a ball in the middle. two teams on each end. when a number is called out, two representatives have to dive under the mat to grab & wrestle each other in order to bring the ball to the other end.

it was freaking cool! i mean, can you imagine girls wrestling each other just ot reach the goal? i wrestled Kathleen Carpio. hahahaha. the guys loved the girl fights. we were really ON!

it was my most memorable moment in the camp. cause after that, i secretly reflected that during the wrestling parts of the game, they dawned on me that if you apply it in our lives, those were the moments when things get you down & there will always be something or someone pulling you away from your goal. for me, my goal is to be a Servant Leader. to be the best child Jesus wants me to be. but like i mentioned, there will always be an obstacle. but if you keep trying, you'll eventually reach it.

  • for our dinner that night, we had to dress semi-formally & prepare & decorate our own table. everyone was dressed in their best & everyone looked good. & guess what, i think i crush on someone. teeheehee. OMG! kilig. *winks at Ate Chin!* LOL!
  • then we had our third session by Pastor KiKo Sanchez. he taught us the meaning of S.E.R.V.E

S- Spiritual gifts that help empower me for service

E- Experiences that God allows which shape you into a Servant Leader

R- Relational style. traits God uses to give me a leadership style

V- vocational skills. abilities gained to use in service to God

E- enthusiasm is the passion put into my heart for a certain ministry to others

  • then there was our washing of the feet.

Mark 10:43

"whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, & whoever wants to be first must be slave to all"

everyone, still in their semi-formal clothes had their moment of the night. where the leaders our youth had to go to the stage where they willingly washed our feet. in the Bible, Jesus, after his meal with his disciples, went down to the lowest level & washed his disciples feet. being God himself, still wanted to serve the people he loved & who loved him. aswell as the people he knew who betrayed him, like Judas. that was why our leaders washed our feet. cause they wanted to serve us. i was really moved.

the feeling that i never got to experience during my youth's Infanta trip 2/3 years ago, i finally felt it. it wasn't pride. it was knowing that being a leader was never a popular concept of one who is the boss. it's not being a master, but a servant. being a christian, is being a Servant Leader. that's why, i want to be a servant leader. i want to serve. if that means being Christ-like, i'm willing to go down to the lowest level of being a servant to the people around me.

Day 3

  • we watched the Sun rise at Sembawang park.

we had our individual & group devotion. i thought to myself, 'wow naman. another day'. it was beautiful. the Sunrise. i could see it clearly. we even had our group's craziest exercise. hahaha! i got my butt wet! tsk! (=

  • our session four was from Pastor Joey Pino & he taught us how to E.Q.U.I.P others

E- encourage

Q- qualify

U-understand

I- instruct

P- Pray

  • then another wet game besides the other games. this time, it's called UP-SLOPE.

you might have an idea waht it's all about. there was a mat on a slope always getting poured by water to make it super duper slippery. at first, Jupiter had to get one person up to the the top but we failed. & so did the other teams except Saturn. SA-TURN! it was really difficult!

then we had our second try. this time, we sort of got the hang of it. we made a body pyramid & i had to be the first one to reach the top since i was the lightest (MUAHAHA!). but we had the help of SATURN cause seriously, we couldn't do it alone. i reached the top successfully. & group by group decided to join in & set aside the rivalry to help one another.

the funniest part was the kissies! everyone except for me got stepped on, smacked on the face by wet & smelly feet, kissed butts(AHAHAHA!), pulled, pushed, everything! but it was fun & we successfully got every single camper up that tedious & long slope & only in 45minutes.

  • the fifth session was from Pastor Edwin who taught us how to serve in a T.E.A.M ministry

T- togetherness. as a servant leader, you are willing to share leadership with those who team with you to do ministry

E- empowering or empowerment is about giving team members authority andresources enough to do their part

A- accountibility. we can never promise cause we have our limits but to be as accountable to them. & that's being responsible to those you commit yourself to for what you say & do

M- mentoring means taking what you have caught from your mentor and sharing it with anthor. Servant leaders models for others what Christ modeled for them

this last night, we had no lights off until 4.30am in the morning. which was awesome cause i found out a lot of stuff(teehee, if you know what i mean) & i even got to spend some quality time with Kevin *ahem ahem* . we were at the side with a guitar & he was playing songs we both sang along to. we finally got to know each other cause the time when we met, we never spoke a word to each other. i don't even remember saying hi to him before. then he suddenly disappeared to the Philippines so it was only then where we got to know each other. we laughed our night away. but hey, he wasn't the only one i spent time with. ate Jah was there with me almost the whole time in camp & i love her to bits!

  • we had our last night activity & that was the bone fire & the skit presentations.

in between the day, we had time for our group preparations for our 10min skit. Every group had awesome presentations. Jupiter did the skit using E.Q.U.I.P. it was hilarious! others used the same topic too. we used whatever we learnt during the camp & put them together to make a skit.

my grouped ended up in 3rd place while Saturn was 1st & Mercury was 2nd.

Day 4

we had awards & spoke of our most memorable moment with one another. Jupiter won second place! Saturn won first, while Venus & Mercury won a tie in third place. cool, so everyone won.

then Kathleen & i won &got recognised for the wrestling match for the Dog&Bone game. there was a name for it but i forgot.

i was the nominee for the best actor award cause of my part when i was praying aka possessed. hahaha

& i won the Best Female Camper award in the end!

everyone got their recognition & awards ofcourse cause int he end, the camp was successful &it brought a lot of meaning & changing to everyone of us. & i thank God for that. To God be the Glory always & forever!!

once when i thought that i had regrets in my life

nowi realised that i don't have any regrets in life at all.

i love where i am right now.

i love the Lord, i love being a Servant Leader!

2 timothy 2:2

" And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others"
