I spent my whole day looking for a job once again but this time, at West Mall located in Bukit Batok. Faiqah accompanied me (as i have mentioned on my previous post) before heading to IMM for her final interview. We had fun asking different shops if they were hiring & laughed at the many different reactions when they said no or when they said they need full-timers. Most of them gave the I-don't-give-a-toot-look while others gave the dummy face of the year. It was hilarious! I managed to fill up the application form to work in Gaurdian while Bossini & Giordano wanted me to call their office branch. When I tried Bata, the Manager was in & so this was how it went: Me: "Hi. Are you hiring, because i would like to apply for a job here if it is possible." The Manager: "Okay, well, are you still in school?" Me: "Yes I am, but it's the holidays now for me." The Manager: "N levels or O levels?" Me: "N levels, sir." The Manager: "so you're 16 now?" Me: "Yes, I am." The Manager: "Is this your first time then?" Me: "Yes, yes it is." & here came the weirdest part because I totally forgot that if I would work here, I would have to do this... The Manager: "Are you afraid of heights?" (gives me the curious & witty face) Me: "Wha... Uhm. No. I'm not afraid of heights" (still giving the best smile I could give even though I had no clue why he was really asking that at that point of time) Suddenly, the Manager walks to the back of the store & gestures to me to take a look at something. I moved towards him and then he asks, "Can you reach that?" pointing at the shoe box at the top of the shelves. I thought he wanted me to use the ladder in front of me & get the box right then & there but i had yet to answer his question. Me: "Yes... Ha ha. Yes, I can." ( that's true!) Fortunately, he didn't make me do it. I didn't want to do it yet. The Manager: "Alright then. Actually, I do need more people because we are having a sale at the first floor of West Mall in November & I do need people to help me conduct it so..." & the story goes on to further details until he finally asks for MY number (not the other way around) so that he can contact me when I successfully get the job.
